Contest Conclusion and Awards
The Presiding Officer will make final statements.

  • If a speaker was disqualified, the note from the Chief Judge will indicate that fact and the Presiding Officer will make the statement, “One of our speakers has been disqualified based on time.”  No indication of what speaker was disqualified will be made.  If there were no disqualifications, the Presiding Officer may so state, “There were no time disqualifications.”  (The audience may applaud.)
    • The Presiding Officer may state the fact that the first place winner will represent at the next level contest which will be held in (date and location should be shared if it is known) and that the second place winner may represent if the 1st place cannot.  The Presiding Officer should invite everyone to attend.

(Note: Depending on the decision by the District Director, it is possible that the top two contest winners will move to the next level of contests. The Presiding Officer must double check the details so an accurate announcement can be made.)

    • The Presiding Officer may verbally thank all participants. Certificates of Participation are appropriate and should include the name of the participant carefully printed name - sloppy certificates are not a joy to receive or share. Certificates of Participate are typically presented to contestants at the interview conducted by the contest Toastmaster.

    Trophies and Awards

    • Trophies and awards MUST BE suitable for the winning contestant to proudly display.
    •
    • They MUST be engraved and presented UNWRAPPED.
    •
    • It's the winner's Oscar and should reflect the time and effort given to compete and win.
    •

I can't stress enough the importance of the awards. The District managers MUST recognize that contest winners deserve an award that shows the best of the Toastmasters program.
